Employees at Chartered Financial Planners, True Bearing, have been challenged to battle it out and collect as much food and household goods as they can, each hoping to collect more than the other to donate to the charity, Chorley Help the Homeless. The challenge will take place over the week commencing Monday 23 November.
Not stopping there they are now calling on the local business community to join them in their challenge with the accumulation of non-perishable foods and household goods being handed over to the charity on 27 November.
Naming the challenge ‘Food for thought’ ‘Thought for Food’ week, employees at the firm are encouraged to spend some of their time on the build up to Christmas, thinking about others less fortunate than themselves.
Susan Peary, Managing Director at True Bearing, said: “Shockingly, people in Chorley go hungry every day for a variety of reasons. Chorley Help the Homeless provide emergency food and household items to people experiencing crisis.
“We’re adding a bit of competition to this collection in the hope that it will motivate people to collect more food for people in need.
“We think it is particularly important to support the charity in the run up to Christmas, and we are hoping that by extending the challenge to local businesses this will help raise awareness of the invaluable work that Chorley Help the Homeless does.
“We urge all those within the local business community to take part in the challenge and look forward to hearing stories of other firms taking part.”
