It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
One of True Bearing’s core values is to give back to the local community wherever we can
We are always looking for opportunities to help make a difference and for the past couple of years, True Bearing have made a donation to the Children and Families Wellbeing Service (CFWS) in Burnley, helping them to provide much needed support to families most in need in the area. The plight of some Burnley residents was highlighted in a BBC news report just before Christmas and you cannot help but have been moved by the words of Father Alex and Pastor Mick from the Church on the Streets Ministry. This year, the Covid pandemic has made an already difficult situation much worse for many families and as a result, our support was needed more than ever.
The team here at True Bearing were therefore honoured and humbled to receive the following thank you from the CFWS team and to learn a bit more about where our donation had been used and how it had helped.
"Burnley has featured heavily in both local and national news over the past weeks as journalists reported on the genuine hardships that families have been facing due to the Covid pandemic layered on top of already challenging socio-economic problems. We knew Christmas was going to be a difficult time and True Bearing Chartered Financial Planners, once again reached out to the Children and Families Wellbeing Service to offer support to vulnerable children in Burnley this Christmas with a generous cash donation.
The Children and Families Well Being Service (CFWS) is a Lancashire County Council service that offers support to a wide range of families. Their aim is to provide help and advice at an early stage that allows children and families to flourish, summed up succinctly in our vision statement we aim to ensure, 'children, young people and their families are safe, healthy and achieve their full potential.' With this in mind, True Bearing can be assured that their generous financial donation has been targeted directly into the homes of families that need support. The contribution of an 'easy to access cash fund' to our Christmas appeal has been a wonderful addition to the professional support our highly trained staff are currently offering. One of the fundamental problems our service sees is difficult budgeting decisions being made by the vulnerable, as a result of complex family needs; that literally means that the power can get turned off at critical times making childrens' lives miserable. Your donation has led to amazing results based on the feedback our Key workers have received.
They reported that your support not only gave tangible, much needed physical support but, also an emotional connection to a wider community. The heartfelt tears that have been shed by parents were not just from the relief of being able to feed their children but, that people cared enough to hear their story and offer support. When you feel alone it is the act of genuine kindness from complete strangers that restores faith and promises hope. True Bearing's continued support in December brought hope to Burnley and facilitated genuine relief.
All the staff at Burnley in CFWS want to pass on their sincerest thanks for your generosity and kindness. Your company name has been borne out in your actions and you really have made Charles Dickens correct, in these 'worst of times,' you have been the best of people. Thankyou."
It’s not only during the Christmas period that those in the Burnley area need additional support. If you would like to learn more about how to help this important and valuable local initiative, please contact Carvel Lonsdale, CFWS Delivery support worker on 01282 470 707.
