True Bearing in the Community 2021 - Tough Mudder, Family Fun Days and More!
Over the past twelve months, True Bearing have been supporting a number of charities and supporting our community. The caring nature and ‘can do’ attitude of our employees is evident in their efforts to contribute to and improve our community. Below are just some of the fundraising events we have had the pleasure of running or being involved in:
Four brave members of the True Bearing team including our Independent Financial Adviser Andrew Sutherland tackled the 10-mile Tough Mudder Classic race on 4th September. This was a great event for team-building and supporting a good cause. This gruelling obstacle course which includes plenty of mud, water and electricity is not for the faint hearted! We are immensely proud of the team comprising of Andrew, Georgia, Jitan and Lauren who raised £663 for Children With Cancer UK. Well done!
Lauren told us a little more about the charity and why she signed up for the challenge:
“Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer and I personally couldn’t think of a worthier charity to raise funds for. The best thing about completing Tough Mudder (aside from being covered head to toe in mud, taking a dive into an ice cold bath and then being electrocuted 20+ times) was the sense of teamwork not only within our own team but everyone completing the course on the day and that the fact we all pushed ourselves physically and mentally in order to complete the course. A fantastic day, a worthy cause and I cannot wait to sign up for next year!”
Family Fun Day
This is a regular True Bearing tradition that was sadly put on hold due to Covid. We were finally able to hold our Family Fun Day again! With a variety of outdoor activities including a Magician, inflatable games and a raffle. The enjoyable day resulted in £491 being raised by staff, family and friends for the Children With Cancer UK charity.
Macmillan Coffee morning
The annual coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care took place on 24th September. Our eager bakers raised £205 for the charity through their bake sale.
Bank Holiday Quiz and Raffle
We held our annual August Bank Holiday Friday afternoon of fun with a quiz, raffle and dress down day. This meant the whole team were able to get together and wind down before the long weekend and we raised a total of £264 for our chosen charity Children With Cancer UK.
Christmas food bank collection
Every Christmas our employees generously donate food items to our local food bank, Living Waters Storehouse in Chorley. This year we collected so much we had to make two trips! The drop off allowed some of our staff to see what goes on within the food bank and understand how our donations are used to help those in need.
Helping families in Burnley stay warm
True Bearing donated to the Burnley Children and Families Wellbeing Service Winter Fuel Fund. This worthy cause makes sure that families in fuel poverty across the Burnley area receive fuel cards, enabling them to stay warm this winter.
Christmas fundraising by employees
More True Bearing traditions; this year's Quiz, Raffle and Dress Down Day raised £355 whilst the advisers Christmas jumper day raised £178.66 for Children With Cancer UK
And finally, our client referral scheme
When completing the referral form there is an option to select to donate the reward to charity instead. We are delighted to confirm that a total of £300 has been sent to charities through client referrals. A real feel-good result and thanks for your generosity!
Despite Covid and lockdowns meaning we had to make changes to the way we do some things, our fundraising total reached the dizzy heights of £4703.65 during 2021. We are immensely proud of our team and their dedication to supporting charity and improving our community.
Going forward into 2022 and beyond, we will be picking two new charities to support, so if you have any ideas of local, worthy causes that need our support, contact us
