True Bearing
Corporate Social Responsibility & Charitable Engagements
True Bearing are not only committed to providing first class financial advice and excellent client service but also work hard to ensure we give back to the wider community.
Community involvement is part of our business ethos and built into our strategy. We think it's important to give back, given the fortunate position we’re in. Therefore, we want to help the local community that has supported our business since we launched in 2003.
We actively encourage all employees to nominate their chosen charities. Our staff-led CSR committee then reviews which projects we can best support.
Current Initiatives
British Heart Foundation
Staff participated in the Bag It Beat It appeal and filled 23 bags, worth £2000 for the charity.
Living Waters Food Bank
Every Christmas our employees generously donate food items to our local food bank, Living Waters Storehouse in Chorley.
Children With Cancer UK
Four brave members of the True Bearing team including our Independent Financial Adviser Andrew Sutherland tackled the 10-mile Tough Mudder Classic race on 4th September 2021.
Macmillan Cancer Support
The annual coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care took place on 24th September 2021. Our eager bakers raised £205 for the charity through their bake sale.
Burnley Children and Families Wellbeing Service
True Bearing donated to the Winter Fuel Fund. This worthy cause makes sure that families in fuel poverty across the Burnley area receive fuel cards, enabling them to stay warm this winter.

Staff have also given their own time privately as well and we have had many staff volunteer with local charities such as Age Concern during the Coronavirus pandemic.
We have helped many organisations and charities over the years, below are just some of those who have benefited:
- Bury Hospice
- Chorley branch Multiple Sclerosis Society
- Chorley Help the Homeless
- Children in Need
- Hand on Heart (funding defibrillators for local schools)
- Rock FM Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ Appeal
- The Legacy Rainbow House, Ormskirk
- Arthritis Action
- MIND
- The Space Centre, Preston

Last Choir Singing
Our Chairman George Critchley set up ‘Last Choir Singing’ competition in 2015 and True Bearing sponsored it for several years. Open to all junior schools in Lancashire, this annual event has some great prizes on offer and promotes the benefits of music amongst participants.
Sustainable office
Over the last few years we have also been trying to make our business as sustainable as possible. This has included recycling as much as possible, having our milk delivered in glass bottles and asking our printers to use Carbon Trust approved paper for our stationery. This means that when you are talking to us about sustainable investments, you can be sure we are living those values too.
Sponsorship and mentoring
True Bearing has been proud to sponsor the Lancastrian of the Year Award at the Sub36 Awards for 3 years running. The awards recognise talented young business people throughout Lancashire and alongside sponsorship, our Chairman has been involved in mentoring previous years winners. Members of the True Bearing team have also been into schools and colleges, promoting careers in financial services and performing mock interviews.
